So long and thanks for all the playing with our pets

This is one crazy week that is leading into another crazy week.  It's an exciting time of year working at a university but I always feel vaguely dizzy and off kilter at the end of August and beginning of September.  There's one big change at our house happening this week that has nothing to do with work though.  Our tenant, Kevin, is moving out.

I don't think I've ever even mentioned our tenant on the blog before and I don't have a photo even though he's lived on the premises on weekdays for nearly a year now.  When Husband decided to go back to university last year we decided to try to rent out the double bedroom and bathroom in our basement (the basement is a walk out with really good light actually).

Before we furnished

We had no idea whether or not anyone would be interested as we're a decent distance from the university (my morning drive points that out to me on a daily basis) and we have three pets.  We really really lucked out.  It seems our demographic was working professionals who had new jobs in our city but weren't fully prepared to give up their lives in another city in the province.  We had at least two people who said they would only be around part of the week and spend the rest of the week in Fredericton.

Who wouldn't want to see our downstairs loo
Our tenant was the first one to see the place and offered to commit to it and was going to be gone all weekend.  Sold! Or leased I guess.

After nearly a year of spending most of the week with us I think he's looking forward to seeing his wife and his own pets a bit more but Sadie in particular is going to miss him.  I'm hoping this is a good sign that we're wrapping up the MBA stage of our lives as well and can do back to be DINKs (dual income no kids) very soon.

We're hoping to be dinkys, not dinks (dual income no kids yet). That or Dilops (dual income lots of pets)
