Outfitted for a Purpose

This is an OOTD post with a difference.  I recently spent a Saturday evening helping Husband fundraise for the River Valley Ground Search and Rescue.  When the police are notified of a missing person often they'll call in the voluntary Ground Search and Rescue to help with the search.

Many people are under the impression that SAR is a government funded organisation but that's not really how it works.  When called out on a search the volunteers are paid mileage and, if they're out over night or for hours on end, food is generally provided.  However, equipment and training are funded through donations and by the volunteers themselves.  Right now the major concern is that the old command post is kaput.  My father has been a member of the River Valley Ground Search and Rescue for 12 years now and husband has been a member since we moved to Canada.   I don't like them heading out into the wilderness without everything they need so I pitched in with the fundraising efforts for 4 hours and dressed to match.

That can got heavy!

Didn't get to sit down very long!
Cardigan- RW&Co
Tank Top- BAMboo
Skirt- Silver Daisy
Shoes- Manchester Shoes

The people of the valley were incredibly giving.  We were amazed by how many people handed over not only change but bills!  The total collected between Thursday and Saturday (the Friday was Canada Day) was $2900.  Thank you so much everyone!
