A Brief Overview

Many of you have joined me along the way since this blog started last June. Most of you know me in some way in real life but there's now a strong representation of readers who don't know me at all.  That last bit messes with my head but I greatly appreciate you being here!

Anyway, for those of you who might have missed the original introduction, Husband and I live just outside Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada with our dog and two cats.  When the blog started it was dog and one cat. A year ago it was just the dog. A year and a half ago there were just humans in our house. I'm not completely sure how that all happened but we're basically wrapped around their little paws now.

Husband and I met when I moved to England to teach for one year back in 2006.  He was a student teacher assigned to one of my classes.  I scared the heck out of him (I had actually quit my job that day... wasn't pleasant) and he didn't talk to me for about three weeks after that.  Fast forward to 2008 and I was still living in the UK. After we got married we decided to move to Canada. I call him my very expensive souvenir.

We now live fairly close to my parents and keep in touch with Husband's family in a variety of ways.  This blog is one of those ways so sometimes I'll explain something that might seem obvious if you're local.  We love where we live and appreciate the small city feel.  I enjoy introducing my readers to the cool local shops, restaurants and crafty/artist types I've met along the way.  We've chosen to live in this area and it works for us, but I'm also not going to sugar coat things (or pretend that New Brunswick having more than 3 recognizable cities makes sense anywhere but in Canada!), it's not perfect and sometimes I find it frustrating!

I have a tendency to get caught up in causes without properly committing myself to anything in particular.  I do see this as a personal flaw.  I have a tendency to flit and care without actually making a huge difference.  I want to work on that.  You'll regularly see me writing about our local animal shelter, Big Brothers Big Sisters, World Vision and Ground Search and Rescue to name a few.

Today is one week from my birthday (side note: I LOVE my birthday. I celebrate birthday week. Feel free to send things or write poems in my honour... only not really because most people can't write poetry, including myself.).  On my birthday I'm going to cut my hair my hair to donate it to be made into a wig.  Expect a fairly different look coming up soon. I'm going to miss the long hair as I've been enjoying it, but I am looking forward to it being faster to dry and straighten! Plus it's likely to make outfits look very different thereby inspiring some new outfit posts.

So that's a little bit about us.  Hope you have a wonderful Friday. Feel free to say hi!
