Remember, Remember....

Tomorrow is the 5th of November which should sound familiar if you've watched V for Vendetta... or I guess if your history teacher decided to teach you about Guy Fawkes.  Probably more from V for Vendetta though. For more information on the whole historic piece see here November 5th is now generally referred to as Bonfire Night in the UK. I guess maybe it's more accessible or politically correct? I don't know.

Anyway, the first year I lived in the UK, my roommate and I took a bus into Norwich for the fireworks which was incredible. After that it was a yearly thing-including the year there was a torrential downpour. When we moved to Canada we suggested to my Mum, who grew up with bonfire night as a child in the UK, that we start a new tradition here.  My Mum's got some slight pyromaniac tendencies (which I feel are from years of repressed bonfire nights) so any excuse to set off fireworks tends to go over well.  This will be our third annual bonfire night and there will be food, cider, fireworks, sparklers and throwing things into a fire.  How can that every be a bad combination?

Some of the aftermath from last year. Note the mug of tea.

Bye Bye Guy

I think you can be fairly certain you'll be seeing some more fireworks photos from this year on the blog next week! Have a good weekend everyone!

Can verify that your mother is the Queen of Pyromaniacs! Have a great time, wish I could be there.
