Control Freak?

I'm an organizer.  I like to make plans and know what's coming up and see how things all fit together.  It makes what I do as my day job kind of ideal.  I work with university students on developing good time management and organization and study skills.

So when it comes to my birthday I've tended to plan things myself, since I was about 18.  Husband and I have decided that (after a couple of years of crazy jobs or studies impacting our birthdays) we're going to take long weekends for both of our birthdays this year.  My birthday is first and I've got brunch, games afternoon with friends, a little time at the spa, dinner out, etc scheduled in. 

Last night Mum called and said "Well, I was going to check with Husband (ok, she used his name) about your birthday but you emailed me first."  I had to laugh.  Check with Husband?  Who does she think is in charge around here?

The thing is that Husband would plan a great weekend if I left it up to him.  But he started a new job a couple of months ago and has had a couple of crazy weeks.  He's able to take the long weekend but I don't know that it's the best year to leave planning up to him. It has made me think that maybe next year I let him plan my birthday but I've got this year covered.
